Montanstahl has developed several customized thermal barrier steel window systems using a mechanical crimping technology to join a glass fiber reinforced polyamide (GRP) between two steel flanges. This approach offers a very high design flexibility allowing to choose freely height, width, thickness as well as type of steel or stainless steel for the flanges. Mechanical crimping is suitable for companies, which are able to develop and certify systems in-house.
In 2014, MONTANSTAHL joined forces with MOGS, an Italian company specialized in the development and distribution of complete thermal barrier steel window systems, and founded the company OTTOSTUMM. OTTOSTUMM’s mission is to support architects and planners with state of the art thermal barrier steel window systems, which not only preserve the character of national heritage buildings, but also offer the possibility to use windows with distinguishing visual qualities in contemporary architecture.
MTS50, is a new thermal barrier steel window system, which combines the essence of the original steel window design of the last century with state of the art manufacturing technology. The outer profiles are made from cold formed steel, which are joined by a cast in polyurethane. The MTS50 system is suitable for companies, which prefer a single supply source for all components, a certified system, technical guidance or a 360° support on steel window manufacturing.
