UPA is the short form for a further group of channel sections.
They are produced with parallel flanges according to DIN 1026-2: 2002-10 with tolerances according to EN 10279: 2000.
In comparison to the UPE series, flanges and webs have the same material thickness.
Although UPA achieve lower static values then the UPE (at equal profile height), the UPA channels are seen as a cost efficient alternative for a wide range of applications, thanks to a low weight per meter.
In addition U profiles with parallel flanges are much easier to assemble as no conical flat washer have to be used to compensate the natural conicity of the UPN flanges.
According to EN 10088-3: 1D the following austenitic grades are predominantly used for stainless steel structurals: 1.4301 (304), 1.4307 (304L) , 1.4401 (316) , 1.4404 (316L) and 1.4571.
