Dimensioned according to EN 10056-1 (1998) and produced within tolerances defined by EN 10056-2 (1993), Montanstahl’s range covers a wide spectrum of asymmetric proportions, produced by laser welding, hot rolling or cold drawing.

What distinguishes an unequal leg angle from an equal leg angle?

In an unequal leg angle the two legs have different widths (e.g., L100×65×7), whereas an equal leg angle has both legs of the same width (e.g., L100×100×10). The asymmetry of the unequal profile shifts the centroid and changes the section’s bending behaviour about each axis, which can be advantageous in specific structural and connection configurations.

Are unequal leg angles dimensionally standardised?

Yes, they follow EN 10056-1 (1998) for nominal dimensions and EN 10056-2 (1993) for permissible tolerances, the same standards as equal leg angles. Montanstahl can also produce fully custom geometries beyond the standard range.
