Stop-logs are used to control water levels in floodgates or the water flow in a river, canal or reservoir. They can also help to control systems for fresh water conductions.

Usage in Water – No Problem for Duplex Stainless Steel
Montanstahl does produce stainless steel stop-logs due to corrosion issues. We are specialized in producing them in austenitic stainless steel, either in 304L (1.4307) or 316L (1.4404). The use of different higher alloy stainless steels or duplex stainless steels is possible as well.
Customizing is the Name of the Game
Furthermore, there is no standard product. Our stop-logs are tailored and produced according to the application’s requirements. So there might be the most heterogeneous sections and sizes.
These will vary from channels with equal or even unequal legs. We can also produce t-sections with two webs. Sometimes customers need omega-profiles or even custom designed sections.
Perfect Stop-Logs Made by Laser Welding
There is anyhow one common characteristic that does make a distinguish of all our stop-logs: the sharp edges.
Montanstahl does produce stop-logs with the laser fusion technology. Therefore, we producee the raw material of flat bars. Then we fuse it together to the desired shape.
This allows to produce very clean an precise corners. In addition to this, the beads produced by our laser fusion technology are minimal. They also have a radius smaller than two millimeters.
Compared to press-brake or hot rolled executions, the sharp edge will make a substantial difference. In that production methods, the radius is generally at least the double of the chosen material thickness.
The minimal corner radii will also grant a higher degree of tightness and no water will leak. So the consequence is a significant reduction in water dispersion, with important savings.
