Montanstahl in Saint-Denis Pleyel for Paris 2024 Olympics

Montanstahl and Frener & Reifer have collaborated on the Saint-Denis Pleyel project, a key part of the Grand Paris Express initiative. This project, designed by the renowned Kengo Kuma & Associates, is set to become a key transportation node for the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Supporting the Paris 2024 Olympics

The Saint-Denis Pleyel station is designed to handle a flow of 250,000 passengers per day, significantly improving connectivity throughout Paris. This station, an integral part of the Grand Paris Express project, represents one of the most innovative and advanced transportation hubs in the region.
With 8 underground levels and a length of 300 meters, the station will serve four new metro lines (lines 14, 15, 16 and 17), becoming an interchange point not only for residents but also for tourists.
The infrastructure has been designed to promote sustainability, with innovative solutions for energy conservation and reduced environmental impact. Glass facades will allow natural lighting, thus reducing the need for artificial light, while modern ventilation systems will ensure passenger comfort.
In addition, the Saint-Denis Pleyel station is designed to be fully accessible, with elevators and ramps that will allow people with reduced mobility to move around easily. This project will not only improve Paris’ transportation infrastructure, but will also be a symbol of modernity and inclusiveness, reflecting the city’s commitment to a sustainable and connected future.

Elevating Infrastructure with Precision-Engineered Steel Profiles

For this ambitious project, Montanstahl with its dedicated architectural unit has produced approximately 150 tons of special steel profiles, tailored to meet stringent requirements. Our contributions include:

  • S355J2 Carbon Steel: High-strength material ensuring durability and reliability.

  • Advanced Welding Technologies: Utilization of both laser and 3D laser welding technologies for precise and robust constructions.

  • Complex Geometries: Intricate shapes including arrow profiles with acute and obtuse angles, as well as special hollow sections with dual chambers.

  • Enhanced Safety Features: All edges milled to a 2 mm radius to ensure safety in public spaces.
